Steve Coxon's Web: Maryville Programs in Gifted Education

I direct the programs in gifted education in the School of Education at Maryville University of St. Louis, including both graduate and pre-collegiate programs. The programs benefit from the input of the Maryville Gifted Education Advisory Board, a diverse group of regional gifted education stakeholders that convenes annually. The Maryville Young Scholars Program likewise benefits from its own Young Scholars Advisory Board comprised of program stakeholders that convenes twice annually.

Graduate programs in gifted education offered at Maryville:

1. Master of Arts in Education: Gifted Education
2. A fifth-year bridge program for exceptional preservice teachers leading to the MAEd: Gifted Education
3. Coursework leading toward Missouri Gifted Certification

Pre-collegiate programs:

1. The Maryville Young Scholars Program to identify and serve children from groups traditionally underrepresented in gifted education
2. The Maryville Summer Science and Robotics Program for High Ability Students serving ages 4-15 with high quality STEAM programming annually in July

I also work with the university to co-sponsor events from organizations that benefit the gifted, including FIRST LEGO League, Project MEGSSS, the Gifted Association of Missouri, and several local school districts.
